The Big Picture
In this room of a multigenerational house, a floor-to-ceiling panel wall made of stained ash forms the backdrop for a central kitchen block that appears like a sculpture due to its materiality and dimensions. In the compact block, the blue-green quartzite of the sink area merges with burnished tombac. This creates a solid appearance structured by minimally inserted joints and edges. The furniture handles and fittings were made by a Munich-based artisan blacksmith. The smoked oak floor and cement putty walls add a sense of calmness to the space and enhance the effect of the central element.
